Allison Davis Biography

Allison Akers Davis is the founder and principal of AkersDavis, a leadership and business consulting practice. A seasoned business professional, who has worked as a senior human resource executive, business consultant and executive coach, Allison established her own business in March 2005 on the premise that value can be brought to individuals, teams, and organizations through true leadership mastery. She has coached and consulted with Fortune rated, private equity and small business executives and possesses in-depth business experience facilitating organization and individual change, helping clients to experience breakthrough leadership and business results.

Coaching and Consulting Experience

Allison has diverse industry experience working with small business and global companies such as Diageo, Gilt Groupe, PepsiCo, United Healthcare, Chubb, AXA Liabilities, CIT, Thomson Reuters and Covidien. Within these industries, she has coached and consulted with leaders in business management positions, Research and Development, Manufacturing and Operations, Finance, Retail, and Insurance Executives.

Allison values building quick rapport with her client leaders through her use of business knowledge and acumen. Her consulting and coaching style is collaborative, focused and direct. Considered a “creative minimalist” she uses a simple, yet structured and disciplined process that in turn yields an immediate return on investment and sustainable change. She has consulted on, and led, multiple leadership development, talent management and organization change projects for internal clients as well as for external consulting engagements.

Business/Organization Leadership Experience 

Allison was formerly the VP and Coaching Market Leader for Right Management’s Northeast Talent Management Practice. Prior to that role, she worked as a senior leader for Stanley Works, Carvel, CIGNA, Aetna and Travelers. Positions she has held include VP HR, AVP Leadership Development, Manager Global Organization Development and internal consultant. In each role she has been responsible for internal organization effectiveness and client coaching where she helped build high performing teams in the U.S, Europe and Canada; developing senior level talent and high potentials. Her results were published in the Corporate Executive Board for CFO’s.

Education and Training

Allison earned her Masters Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of New Haven and is a guest educator for the Graduate School of Business. She is a former president of the Greater New Haven Chapter of SHRM and has held leadership positions on the Connecticut State SHRM Council. She leads the volunteer coach program for Dress for Success Hartford. She is certified in the Hogan Personality and MRG Leadership Effectiveness Assessment and Clark Wilson 360 Assessments and uses DiSC in her coaching practice. She holds an Executive Coaching Certification from Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business. A member of the International Coaching Federation, Allison recently published in the International Journal of Coaching in Organizations, Issue 4 2009: Coaching: Navigating the Emerging Trends in Financial Services.
